Limba Mokume Gane Hoop Earrings – Three Precious Metals with a Unique Pattern

The Mokume Gane Limba Hoop Earrings are crafted from a layered metal composite of yellow gold, palladium, and silver. The different colors of the precious metals create a vibrant pattern that extends across the curved surface of the earrings.

Master goldsmith and silversmith Markus Wiesner crafts these unique hoop earrings in his own workshop. The artisanal processing of the Mokume Gane material ensures that each pair features a unique pattern.

Japanese forging technique in a three-color design

The Japanese Mokume Gane technique, which dates back some 360 years, involves fusing different layers of metal together. The resulting metal composite is then shaped through forging and further processing steps to reveal the characteristic, wood-like patterns.

In the Limba model, the warm tones of yellow gold meet the more grayish palladium and the light silver. The different metal colors highlight the individual lines of the pattern.

The patterns are not applied to the surface but arise directly from the layered metal. That is why no two pairs of hoop earrings are exactly alike.

Wide hoop earrings with a diameter of 18 mm

With a width of 7.5 mm and a diameter of 18 mm, the Limba hoop earrings have a striking yet compact shape.

The comparatively wide surface provides ample space to showcase the various metal colors and the fine lines of the Mokume Gane pattern.

Due to the curvature of the hoop earrings, the appearance of the pattern changes depending on the viewing angle. As a result, different sections of the layered metals are revealed time and again.

Unique Patterns – Coordinated Earrings

When crafting the Limba hoop earrings, care is taken to ensure a harmonious balance between the two pieces. The patterns are related but not entirely identical.

These subtle differences are characteristic of hand-forged Mokume Gane and contribute to the earrings’ unique appearance.
