Mokume Gane Funa Stud Earrings – Sleek Shape with Vibrant Pattern

The Mokume Gane Funa stud earrings are characterized by their elongated, narrow shape. With a height of 20 mm and a width of 5.8 mm, they are worn vertically on the ear. Their clean design leaves plenty of room for the vibrant pattern of the forged material.

Master goldsmith and silversmith Markus Wiesner crafts the Mokume Gane from 750 yellow gold, 500 palladium, and 925 silver in his own workshop. The handcrafted process gives each pair a unique, wood-like texture.

Three Precious Metals Using Japanese Forging Techniques

For the Funa model, the three differently colored precious metals are first welded together to form a solid layered composite. The characteristic burl-wood pattern is created through subsequent rolling, forging, and precise shaping of the metal layers.

The warm yellow gold provides a beautiful contrast to the gray palladium areas and the light silver. The pattern emerges directly from the metal composite and is not a decoration applied afterward.

Off-center stud pins

A distinctive feature of the Funa stud earrings is the position of the posts. These are not centered on the back but are deliberately offset. As a result, the elongated jewelry elements point downward when worn.

The backs and posts are made of 925 silver. They are electroplated with rhodium in our goldsmith’s workshop to protect the silver from tarnishing.

Dimensions and Surface Finish

The stud earrings are 20 mm tall and 5.8 mm wide. Their frosted glass finish clearly highlights the different metal colors and the fine lines of the Mokume Gane pattern.

Since the patterns are created by hand, the two stud earrings are coordinated but not completely identical.
