Damascus Steel Rings with an Open Design
These rings by Martin Steinhorst are forged from a strip of Damascus steel. The beginning and end of the strip meet at the top without forming a closed ring. It is precisely this visible meeting of the ring’s ends that defines the design.
Damascus Pattern and Fine Gold
The exterior displays the characteristic pattern of Damascus steel. On the interior, fine gold is permanently applied using a special process. The warm gold tone complements the cooler steel pattern and remains visible when looking inside the ring.
Customizing the Ring Ends
Various designs are possible at the open end. The shape of the band ends determines whether the ring appears more understated or distinctly unique. If you have your own idea, send us your sketch or briefly describe the desired design. We’ll coordinate the details with you before production begins.
Engraving Before the Gold Application
With this model, the engraving is located beneath the applied fine gold. Therefore, your engraving request must be provided at the time of ordering. Additionally, the open design does not guarantee that the ring can be bent open and closed at will; the appropriate ring size is determined before production begins.
Daily Wear and Care
For cleaning, we recommend using a soft cloth and handling the ring gently. Abrasive cleaners or attempting to polish the ring yourself can alter the surface finish. If you’d like to have the ring refinished or resized, please contact us beforehand so we can assess the options for this specific material combination.
