Bacuri – Two-Tone Mokume Gane Rings with Bold Wood Grain, Made of Palladium and Silver

Bacuri is one of the more boldly designed Mokume Gane rings created by our goldsmiths. Its grain is distinctly reminiscent of natural wood, yet it appears bolder and more expansive than in models featuring very fine, closely spaced lines.

A defining feature is the larger, contiguous areas of palladium through which light silver lines run. This creates an intriguing interplay between calm gray areas and clearly visible, flowing structures. Especially on wider rings, this pattern has plenty of space to unfold and develops a unique depth.

This makes Bacuri an interesting choice for couples seeking exceptional wedding bands in a light, understated color combination, where the hand-forged Mokume-Gane grain remains clearly and expressively visible.

Two Precious Metals—Rich Palladium and Light Silver Lines

For Bacuri, we use 500 palladium and 925 silver. These two precious metals create a light gray-silver color effect, where the focus is less on color contrast and more on the distinct patterns of the individual layers.

We produce the Mokume-Gane layered material ourselves in our goldsmith’s workshop. The prepared layers of palladium and silver are permanently fused together and then forged, rolled, and specifically processed.

It is only through this process that different areas of the individual precious metal layers become visible. In the case of Bacuri, this results not only in light silver lines but also in characteristically larger, contiguous palladium areas.

The grain pattern is therefore not applied to the ring afterward. It arises from the material itself. While its basic character can be shaped, the exact pattern of the lines and surfaces develops differently with every new pair of rings produced. Thus, every Bacuri pair remains one-of-a-kind.

Seamlessly forged

Bacuri is seamlessly forged from solid Mokume-Gane layered material. As a result, there is no solder joint where the grain pattern is suddenly interrupted.

Instead, the pattern can unfold all the way around the entire ring. Palladium surfaces and silver lines continuously change their course, revealing different areas of the grain pattern as the ring is turned.

Especially with the bold Bacuri pattern, this seamless construction is a key part of the design: The ring has no artificially defined “front” side, but displays its unique structure all around.

Diamonds as a Deliberate Accent

With Bacuri as well, diamonds can be integrated directly into the existing Mokume-Gane pattern.

One option is to set individual diamonds strategically within larger palladium areas. This creates a clear point of light within the calmer gray areas.

Alternatively, several diamonds can follow a silver line within the grain pattern. This creates a delicate line of diamonds that follows the natural flow of the pattern, rather than appearing as a later-added decorative element.

Bacuri can also be crafted without diamonds. In this case, the bold palladium areas and the bright silver lines take center stage.

Custom-made for you

The Bacuri rings shown here are examples of this model that have already been crafted. Your own pair of rings will be newly crafted for you and will develop its own unique grain pattern during the handcrafted production process.

The standard ring widths range from 4 to 10 mm. Wider versions are also available upon request. The characteristic palladium surfaces and silver lines can unfold generously, especially on wider rings. At the same time, Bacuri retains its typical character even with narrower ring widths, such as 4 or 5 mm.

The profile is slightly domed; the documented profile height is 2 mm. The version shown has a matte finish.

The diamond setting can also be tailored to the ring’s specific grain pattern. Individual stones or rows of diamonds are positioned so that they blend as naturally as possible into the ring’s unique design.

Handcrafted in our goldsmith’s workshop

At our workshop, Bacuri does not begin with a pre-purchased Mokume Gane blank. Master goldsmith Markus Wiesner builds up the layered material—composed of 500 palladium and 925 silver—in our own goldsmith’s workshop and permanently fuses the individual precious metal layers together.

The resulting solid composite material is then forged, rolled, and further processed. In this process, Markus Wiesner gradually develops the bold pattern characteristic of Bacuri, featuring larger palladium areas and bright silver lines.

The fundamental characteristics of the model can be recreated. However, the exact position and shape of each line or palladium area cannot be reproduced like an industrial surface decoration. With each pair of rings, the grain pattern emerges anew from the processing of the layered material.

This is precisely what makes these Mokume Gane rings so special: While the Bacuri design remains recognizable, each pair develops its own unique surface, transforming them into exceptional, one-of-a-kind wedding rings from our goldsmith’s workshop.
