Faro demonstrates just how delicate and understated Mokume Gane can appear. Numerous layers of varying thicknesses—composed of 500 palladium and 925 silver—form a light, filigree pattern in which fine lines, small swirls, and six delicate-looking stars blend seamlessly together.

Unlike models with bold gold tones, Faro derives its appeal almost exclusively from the subtle nuances of its two light-colored precious metals. Palladium introduces a cooler shade of gray into the pattern, while silver adds the lighter lines in between. This keeps the grain vibrant without appearing garish.

Faro rings are thus Mokume Gane rings for lovers of fine details— extraordinary wedding rings whose uniqueness is revealed not through strong color contrasts, but through the depth and delicacy of their hand-forged grain.

Two Precious Metals—Palladium and Silver

For Faro, we use 500 palladium and 925 silver. A defining feature is the structure composed of numerous fine layers of precious metal of varying thicknesses. It is precisely this that gives rise to the particularly delicate pattern of this model.

The different layers are welded together in our own goldsmith’s workshop to form a solid Mokume-Gane layered material. Through subsequent forging and precise shaping, the fine lines, swirls, and stars emerge.

The pattern is therefore not applied to the surface afterward; it emerges from the material itself. For this reason, every newly crafted pair of Faro follows the same basic design concept, yet no two pairs are exactly identical in their precise line patterns.

A particularly refined surface

The surface finish also contributes to the character of Faro. Etching allows the different layers to stand out from one another more distinctly. Because the silver layers in Faro sometimes taper off particularly finely, this results in an unusually subtle surface pattern.

The subsequent blasting with fine glass beads gives the rings their calm, matte appearance and makes the delicate lines appear especially soft.

Seamlessly forged

Faro is forged seamlessly from solid Mokume-Gane layered material. There is no solder joint to interrupt the fine grain. As a result, lines and patterns can continue around the ring without any visible breaks.

For wedding rings, this manufacturing method also carries a beautiful emotional significance: the closed ring has no beginning and no end. The artisanal construction thus directly reflects the traditional meaning of the wedding ring as a symbol of a lasting union.

Diamonds as a Deliberate Accent

Faro’s delicate, wavy lines are particularly well-suited for understated diamond setting. Small diamonds can follow the course of individual lines, thereby emphasizing the existing grain rather than covering it up.

The version shown features 32 brilliant-cut diamonds totaling 0.16 ct TW. They are set in a channel setting along the pattern and encircle approximately half of the women’s ring.

The diamond setting can be individually incorporated into the design when the ring is custom-made.

Custom-made for you

The pair of Faro rings shown is an example of a previously crafted piece. Your own rings will be newly crafted in our goldsmith’s workshop and will feature your own custom design.

The ring width can be selected between 4 and 10 mm. The standard thickness is 2 mm. The documented profile is slightly domed on the outside; the inside is also slightly domed and polished for comfortable wear.

The classic Faro pattern features six delicate stars. When commissioning a new pair, the number of stars can be adjusted. Other precious metals and different ring profiles are also available as customization options.

In addition, fine diamond lines can be integrated into the pattern along the wavy elements.

The interplay of palladium and silver is deliberately kept within a cool, light color palette. Instead, Faro derives its uniqueness from its numerous thin layers: delicate lines run across the surface, converging into swirls and then opening up again into the characteristic star-like patterns.

Handcrafted in our goldsmith’s workshop

We produce the Mokume Gane layered material for Faro ourselves in our goldsmith’s workshop. The layers of 500 palladium and 925 silver are welded together and then forged and further refined.

Master goldsmith Markus Wiesner uses this material to create the characteristic Faro grain pattern with its fine lines, swirls, and stars. While the basic design can be guided, the exact pattern emerges anew with each piece during the artisanal crafting process.

That is why Faro rings share a similar character but are not industrially reproduced copies of one another. Each newly crafted pair features its own unique pattern.
