Granadillo showcases the bold side of Mokume Gane. Instead of many very fine lines, the design is defined by a few, distinctly bolder layers of precious metal. This creates a striking grain in which the light silver and the cooler gray of the palladium stand out clearly against one another.

Three Precious Metals—Yellow Gold, Palladium, and Silver

For Granadillo , we use 750 yellow gold, 500 palladium, and 925 silver. This combination of materials blends a warm gold tone with cooler gray and silver tones, creating the design’s characteristic contrast.

The colors are not applied afterward. In our own goldsmith’s workshop, the different layers of precious metals are welded together to form a solid Mokume-Gane composite. This material is then forged and carefully refined until the desired grain pattern becomes visible.

At Granadillo, we deliberately work with fewer, but more pronounced layers. As a result, the individual lines appear wider and more striking than in Mokume-Gane designs with very fine patterns.

How these lines ultimately run across the finished ring takes shape during the handcrafted process. The character of Granadillo is reflected—yet the exact grain pattern is created anew with every pair of rings. Thus, each pair remains one-of-a-kind.

Seamlessly forged—with no beginning and no end

Granadillo is seamlessly forged from solid Mokume-Gane layered material. There is no solder joint where the material or grain is interrupted.

As a result, the pattern can continue all the way around the ring. This continuous flow is particularly beautiful with Granadillo’s bold grain: the lines do not disappear at a seam but run along the ring without any visible interruption.

For wedding rings, this method of craftsmanship also holds special emotional significance. A closed ring has no beginning and no end and has always symbolized the lasting bond between two people. In our seamlessly forged Mokume Gane rings, this idea is reflected not only in the form but also directly in their artisanal craftsmanship.

Diamonds as a Deliberate Accent

Granadillo can also be adorned with diamonds. The stones are not meant to obscure the bold Mokume Gane grain but rather to blend into its lines.

Options include a single diamond or several smaller stones that follow the course of a line. Such a setting, in particular, can create a charming contrast to the broad, organic pattern of the material.

Without diamonds, however, Granadillo places particular emphasis on the material itself. In this case, the bold grain, the contrast between palladium and silver, and the warm yellow gold tones stand out on their own.

Custom-made for you

The pair of Granadillo rings shown here is a previously crafted example and serves to illustrate the character of this model. Your own rings will be newly crafted for you and will develop their own unique grain pattern.

Granadillo is available in ring widths ranging from 7 to 10 mm. Another characteristic feature is the concave profile. Unlike a classic domed ring, the ring’s surface does not curve outward but instead takes on its distinctive inward-curving shape.

The inside is crafted with a slight curve. This allows Granadillo to combine its unusual outer shape with a comfortably designed interior.

Diamond settings can also be planned to complement the resulting grain—as a single accent or along a line of the pattern.

Extraordinary wedding rings for lovers of bold textures

Granadillo is a good choice if you like the idea of Mokume Gane but find very fine, densely patterned grains too understated. In this design, the individual layers are allowed to take up visible space.

The wider lines allow the palladium and silver to stand out clearly. In addition, the 750 yellow gold adds a warm and calmer element to the ring. It is precisely this contrast that makes Granadillo so captivating: bold patterns on one side, a warm golden hue on the other.

The concave profile also alters the effect. Light falls on the surface differently than on a classically domed ring, allowing the bold lines to stand out from varying angles.

The result is extraordinary wedding rings whose uniqueness does not stem from an added ornament. Form, color, and pattern arise from the ring’s construction and the handcrafted material itself.

Handcrafted in our goldsmith’s workshop

For us, the production of Granadillo does not begin with a ready-made, purchased Mokume-Gane blank. Master goldsmith Markus Wiesner produces the layered material himself in our goldsmith’s workshop.

The individual layers of 500 palladium and 925 silver are prepared and permanently fused together. The distinctive Granadillo grain is then created through forging and targeted further processing. The 750 yellow gold section complements the design with its warm hue.

In this process, Markus Wiesner can influence the basic character of the pattern, but cannot precisely sketch out every single line in advance. As the piece is worked, the layers open up differently each time. Lines become wider, converge, or change their course.

This is precisely why Granadillo is not an industrially reproduced design. Two pairs of rings can clearly share the same Granadillo character and yet never be completely identical.
