Three Precious Metals—An Alternating Play of Warm and Cool Tones

For Jabin , we use 750 yellow gold, 500 palladium, and 925 silver. The yellow gold brings warm hues to the grain, palladium adds cooler gray tones, and the silver creates light lines and areas.

We produce the Mokume-Gane layered material ourselves in our goldsmith’s workshop. The prepared layers of yellow gold, palladium, and silver are permanently fused together and then forged and carefully refined. It is only through these artisanal steps that the characteristic Jabin grain pattern develops.

The different colors are not applied afterward. They arise directly from the three precious metals used and their distribution within the solid layered material. As a result, each newly crafted pair of Jabin earrings develops its own unique pattern.

Seamlessly forged

Jabin is seamlessly forged from solid Mokume-Gane layered material. There is no solder joint that would interrupt the pattern at any point.

As a result, the grain can unfold around the entire ring without a visible beginning or end. This is particularly appealing given Jabin’s vibrant wood-like texture: as you rotate the ring, the lines of gold, palladium, and silver continue endlessly, constantly revealing new sections of the pattern.

The closed ring shape without any visible breaks also makes it a particularly beautiful choice for a wedding band: the shape and grain continue all the way around the ring, with no technically determined beginning or end.

Diamonds as a Deliberate Accent

At Jabin, diamonds can be strategically integrated into the existing Mokume-Gane pattern. Individual stones can, for example, be positioned in calmer palladium areas, where they create a clear point of light.

Alternatively, a delicate line of diamonds can follow the contours of a silver structure. In this way, the diamond setting echoes the movement of the existing grain pattern, rather than appearing on the surface as a separate, independent decorative element.

In this way, Jabin can remain focused entirely on the interplay of colors among its three precious metals or be enhanced with an additional, deliberately placed accent through diamonds.

Custom-made for you

The pair of Jabin rings shown here serves as an example of this model’s character. Your own rings will be newly crafted for you. In the process, their unique grain pattern is also created anew during the handcrafted production.

The ring width can be chosen between 4 and 10 mm; wider versions are available upon request. The profile height is 2 mm, and the profile is slightly arched.

Individual diamonds or a fine line of diamonds can also be incorporated into the custom design. The fundamental Jabin characteristics—three precious metal colors and a wood-like grain—are preserved, while the exact pattern of each pair of rings develops individually.

Jabin is particularly interesting when the Mokume-Gane technique is intended to be visible not only through its grain but also through different precious metal colors. Here, three metals create more color movement than in our two-tone palladium-silver models.

The warm yellow gold breaks through the cooler palladium and silver areas, creating small golden islands and lines across the surface. At the same time, the wood-like grain ensures that the three colors do not appear strictly separated from one another but rather blend into one another.

As a result, Jabin appears lively and rich in detail without losing its natural look. Those who enjoy discovering new lines, surfaces, and color transitions every time they look at a ring will find this to be a particularly varied variation of our Mokume-Gane technique.

Handcrafted in our goldsmith’s workshop

For us, the creation of Jabin begins with the production of the Mokume-Gane layered material. Master goldsmith Markus Wiesner permanently fuses the prepared layers of 750 yellow gold, 500 palladium, and 925 silver together in our own goldsmith’s workshop.

The resulting solid composite material is then forged and carefully refined. In this process, different areas of the individual precious metal layers become visible, and the wood-grain pattern characteristic of Jabin gradually emerges from the material.

The basic character of the pattern can be recreated in a new piece. However, the exact distribution of gold, palladium, and silver lines cannot be reproduced identically, as with an industrial design. Each pair of Jabin rings develops its own unique pattern during the creation process.
