Mokume Gane "Funa" Pendant – the slender shape of a small boat

The Mokume Gane Funa Pendant is modeled after a small boat. Its elongated, slightly curved design provides a serene backdrop for the vibrant patterns of the forged metal composite.

Master goldsmith and silversmith Markus Wiesner crafts the Mokume Gane element from 750 yellow gold, 500 palladium, and 925 silver in his own workshop. The unique texture is created by welding and then working the different precious metals together.

Burl-wood pattern made from three precious metals

In the Japanese Mokume Gane forging technique, multiple layers of differently colored metals are fused together. Through precise working, forging, and rolling, a pattern emerges that often resembles the grain of burl wood.

In the Funa model, the pattern lines flow across the curved surface of the pendant. The warm yellow gold stands out against the gray palladium areas and the light silver. Since the patterns are carved directly from the material, each pendant has its own unique design.

Boat-shaped pendant, 25 mm long

The Funa pendant is 25 mm long and 10 mm wide. The narrow, slightly curved shape beautifully highlights the different metal colors and the fine lines of the burl wood pattern.

The surface is finished with a satin matte finish. This ensures that the patterns remain clearly visible without strong reflections distracting from the material’s unique texture.

Rhodium-plated silver setting and Round Omega necklace

The Mokume Gane element is set in a custom-made 925 silver base. This base also forms the shape of the pendant and is protected from tarnishing by an electroplated rhodium coating.

The pendant comes with a round omega necklace made of 925 silver with a screw-on bail. The necklace length can be selected from the available options.

Matching jewelry from the Funa collection

The slender shape of the pendant is also reflected in the Mokume Gane stud earrings and the Funa ring. The various pieces of jewelry can be combined with one another and, thanks to their shared design language, form a cohesive collection.
