Mokume Gane Gongu Pendant – The Closed Form of the Circle

The Mokume Gane Gongu Pendant is designed as a round, slightly domed pendant. Its shape is reminiscent of a small gong and offers a generous surface area for the vibrant patterns created by the different-colored precious metals.

Master goldsmith and silversmith Markus Wiesner crafts the Mokume Gane element from 750 yellow gold, 500 palladium, and 925 silver. The individual metal layers are fused together and then shaped into the characteristic pattern through various forging and finishing steps.

Three-Color Mokume Gane with Burl Wood Texture

The Japanese Mokume Gane forging technique makes it possible to fuse precious metals of different colors into a solid composite material. Through the precise working of the metal layers, patterns emerge that resemble the grain of various types of wood.

The Gongu model features vibrant burl wood-like patterns. The warm yellow gold contrasts with the gray palladium sections and the light silver. Since the pattern emerges directly from the material, each pendant has its own unique design.

Round pendant with a diameter of 35 mm

The Gongu pendant has a diameter of 35 mm. Its slightly domed surface showcases the various metal colors and the fine lines of the pattern across a larger area.

The frosted finish creates a subtle play of light, ensuring that the structure of the Mokume Gane material remains the focal point of the design.

Rhodium-plated silver base and Round Omega necklace

The Mokume Gane top piece is mounted on a specially crafted 925 silver base. This forms the supporting structure of the pendant and is electroplated with rhodium to protect the silver from tarnishing.

The piece comes with a round omega necklace made of 925 silver with a screw-on clasp. The necklace length can be selected from the available options.
