Sapelli is one of the Mokume-Gane designs whose pattern immediately catches the eye. 750 yellow gold, 500 palladium, and 925 silver form a tri-colored base from which striking gold-colored stars with parallel rays emerge.
The warm yellow gold stands out clearly against the cooler gray and silver tones. At the same time, the stars remain an integral part of the organic Mokume-Gane pattern: they do not appear as ornaments added later, but rather emerge from the layering and finishing of the different precious metal layers.

Three Precious Metals—Yellow Gold, Palladium, and Silver
For Sapelli , we use 750 yellow gold, 500 palladium, and 925 silver. The yellow gold brings a warm, rich hue to the pattern. Palladium provides a cooler, gray contrast, while silver outlines bright lines and areas within the grain.
These colors are not applied afterward. In our own goldsmith’s workshop, the different layers of precious metals are welded together to form the solid Mokume-Gane laminate. It is only through the subsequent forging and targeted further processing that the visible pattern emerges.
In the case of Sapelli, this structure is shaped in such a way that the characteristic stars with their parallel rays emerge. While their basic character can be designed, the exact course of the individual lines and color areas is created anew with every pair of rings. As a result, every pair of Sapelli rings remains one-of-a-kind.
Seamlessly Forged
Sapelli is forged seamlessly from solid Mokume-Gane layered material. There is no solder joint to interrupt the pattern.
This manufacturing method is particularly appealing when the star pattern is so clearly recognizable: the design can continue around the ring without a visible seam. The closed ring has no visible beginning and no visible end—a symbolism in a wedding ring that arises directly from its artisanal construction.
Diamonds as a Deliberate Accent
The Sapelli pattern offers a unique opportunity for diamond setting. The narrow silver lines between the yellow gold lines can be set with small diamonds. The stones follow the rays of the star pattern and echo its flow.
In this way, the diamond setting is not simply added to the surface but can be oriented according to the existing design. The characteristic interplay of yellow gold, palladium, and silver remains visible.
Custom-made for you
The pair of Sapelli rings shown here is a completed example. Your own rings will be newly crafted for you, resulting in a unique design.
The ring width can be chosen between 4 and 10 mm. The standard height is 2 mm and can be adjusted to your preferences.
The documented standard profile is flat on the outside and domed on the inside. Upon request, Sapelli can also be crafted with a domed exterior.
The star pattern can also be customized. By default, we craft Sapelli with four stars. Six or eight stars are also possible. The number and arrangement are determined during production and alter the overall appearance of the ring set.
Small diamonds can also be set along the narrow silver lines between the yellow gold lines.

Sapelli differs significantly from Mokume-Gane designs, whose effect stems primarily from flowing woodgrain or wavy lines. Here, the large yellow gold stars give the ring a clear rhythm and high recognizability.
The interplay between order and natural irregularity is particularly appealing. The parallel golden rays give the pattern structure, while the palladium and silver in between create the lively design typical of Mokume Gane.
Depending on whether you choose four, six, or eight stars, the ring’s overall impression changes: Fewer stars give the individual motifs more space, while a larger number creates a denser pattern.

Handcrafted in our goldsmith’s workshop
Sapelli is crafted in our own goldsmith’s workshop. Master goldsmith Markus Wiesner does not work with pre-made Mokume Gane rings purchased from suppliers.
The layers of 750 yellow gold, 500 palladium, and 925 silver are welded together in our workshop to form the Mokume Gane layered material. Markus Wiesner then uses forging and precise shaping to create the characteristic Sapelli star pattern from this material.
Even during this process, it is determined whether four, six, or eight stars will be created. Nevertheless, the exact pattern cannot be reproduced like an industrial design. The lines, transitions, and color areas develop slightly differently with each newly crafted pair of rings.
This is precisely what makes Sapelli so special: The star motif gives the rings a recognizable character, while the handcrafted grain makes each pair unique.
