Tali showcases an unusual aspect of the Mokume-Gane technique. Instead of a predominantly flat grain pattern, deep grooves characterize the surface of the rings. They give the interplay of palladium and silver not only a visible pattern but also a distinctly three-dimensional texture.
Depending on the viewing angle, light falls differently into the recesses and across the raised areas. As a result, the appearance of the surface changes as the ring is moved—at times the lines stand out more clearly, while at other times the contrasting light and gray metal areas take center stage.
This results in Mokume Gane rings that are distinctly different from our models with finer or more organic grain patterns. Tali is an interesting choice for extraordinary wedding rings when the artisanal craftsmanship of the material is meant to be particularly visible and tangible.
Two precious metals—palladium and silver—with a three-dimensional depth effect
For Tali, we use 500 palladium and 925 silver. The contrasting light and gray metal tones enhance the effect of the deep grooves and make the surface structure clearly visible.
We produce the Mokume-Gane layered material ourselves in our goldsmith’s workshop. The prepared precious metal layers are permanently fused together and then further processed. For Tali, the material is first hammered out flat and rolled, and then shaped into a ring.
The outer surface is then specifically machined and milled. This creates the indentations characteristic of Tali. Through further forging, their pattern can be altered to develop a unique design.
The different metal colors and textures are not applied to the surface afterward. They arise from the bonded layered material itself. That is why every newly crafted pair of Tali rings develops its own unique pattern.
Seamlessly forged
We also craft Tali rings without visible seams or solder joints. This ensures that the design is not interrupted by a joint running across the ring.
This is particularly important with such a distinctive surface texture: grooves and the metal’s natural pattern can develop around the ring without a distracting solder joint.
The closed ring shape without visible interruptions also has a beautiful consequence for wedding rings: there is no technically determined beginning or end to the design.
Custom-made for you
The Tali pair shown here illustrates the character of this model. Your rings will be newly crafted for you. This also means that the unique texture of the surface will be created anew.
The ring width can be chosen between 4 and 10 mm. The profile height is at least 2 mm. The interior, crafted in solid 500 palladium, remains a defining feature.
The effect of the pattern can also be influenced during the crafting process. The deep grooves can be further hammered out, altering the flow and appearance of the texture.

Handcrafted in our goldsmith’s workshop
For us, the production of Tali begins with the Mokume-Gane layered material. Master goldsmith Markus Wiesner permanently fuses the prepared layers of 500 palladium and 925 silver together in our own goldsmith’s workshop.
Tali then undergoes a special processing method: The material is forged flat and rolled, shaped into a ring, and the outer surface is precisely milled. Through further processing and forging, these indentations develop into the ring’s characteristic grooves and unique pattern.
While the basic character of the result can be replicated, it cannot be reproduced identically, unlike an industrial surface finish. The exact distribution of the patterns in each newly crafted pair of Tali rings emerges from the material itself and the artisanal craftsmanship involved.
