Funa Mokume Gane Ring – a slim, elongated shape

The Funa jewelry ring is part of the Mokume Silver collection designed by Michael Wiesner. Its design is intentionally sleek: an elongated, slightly domed Mokume Gane element sits on a simple silver band. The name Funa refers to the boat-like shape of the ring’s top section.

Master goldsmith Markus Wiesner crafts the Mokume Gane element from 750 yellow gold, 500 palladium, and 925 silver. The differently colored precious metals are welded together and then patterned through forging, rolling, and precise finishing.

Three-color pattern with a burl-like texture

The warm yellow gold, the gray palladium, and the light silver create a vibrant pattern. Their lines are reminiscent of the grain of burl wood. They arise directly from the layered metal composite and are not applied to the surface afterward.

Each Mokume Gane element develops a unique pattern during the forging process. The pattern may therefore appear slightly more subdued or more dynamic than on the ring shown here.

Dimensions and Craftsmanship

The elongated ring shank measures 20 × 6.5 mm. The shank has a thickness of 2.2 mm at the bottom and 2.4 mm on the sides. The shank rises approximately 5 mm above the finger.

The surface of the Mokume Gane element is finished with a glass-matte finish. The 925 silver band is given a fine matte finish and then plated with rhodium, which protects the silver from tarnishing. This plating may gradually wear off with wear and can be renewed in our workshop.

Ring Size and Personalized Engraving

The Funa jewelry ring can be configured for ring sizes with an inner circumference of 50 to 70 mm. Using the selection options, you can also specify a personalized engraving, including the font and engraving text.
