Mokume Gane Kokoro Stud Earrings – Heart Shape with a Unique Pattern

The Kokoro Mokume Gane stud earrings combine a slightly asymmetrical heart shape with the vibrant pattern created by three different-colored precious metals. The Japanese name “Kokoro” means “heart” and is also the inspiration behind this jewelry collection.

Master goldsmith and silversmith Markus Wiesner crafts the jewelry pieces from 750 yellow gold, 500 palladium, and 925 silver in his own workshop. The distinctive patterns are created through the artisanal processing of the layered metal composite.

Heart-shaped earrings made from three precious metals

To create the Mokume Gane material, multiple layers of yellow gold, palladium, and silver are fused together under intense heat and pressure. The metal composite is then forged and meticulously worked until the individual metal layers emerge as vibrant patterns.

The warm yellow gold contrasts with the gray palladium areas and the light silver. The resulting structures are reminiscent of the grain of burl wood and give each pair of stud earrings its own unique character.

Asymmetrical heart shape with a rhodium-plated silver back

The Kokoro stud earrings are 12 mm wide, 10.7 mm high, and 2 mm thick. Their slightly asymmetrical heart shape is intentionally distinct from a strictly geometric design.

The back features a heart-shaped element made of 925 silver. The posts are also made of silver. Both are electroplated with rhodium in our goldsmith’s workshop to minimize tarnishing of the silver.

Satin-Finish Surface and Unique Patterns

The surface of the Mokume Gane stud earrings has a matte finish. This ensures that the pattern remains clearly visible without strong reflections from the material’s unique structure causing distraction.

The two stud earrings are crafted as a matching pair. Their patterns are coordinated but not completely identical. These differences arise directly from the artisanal manufacturing process.

The Kokoro Mokume Gane Jewelry Collection

The heart shape is also featured in the matching pendant and ring from the Kokoro collection. This allows you to combine different pieces of jewelry that share the same design language.
