Mokume Gane Kokoro Interchangeable Clasp – Heart-Shaped Design in Palladium and Silver

The Mokume Gane Kokoro Interchangeable Clasp combines a slightly asymmetrical heart shape with the unique grain patterns of two precious metals. Light silver and gray palladium create a vibrant interplay of lines that flows across the curved surface of the piece.

Unlike a classic pearl clasp—which is designed to be as inconspicuous as possible—Kokoro is crafted to be worn prominently. When attached to the front of a pearl or gemstone necklace, it serves both as a clasp and as a decorative pendant.

Two-Tone Mokume Gane – Hand-Forged

Master goldsmith Markus Wiesner crafts the patterned upper section from 500 palladium and 925 silver. Multiple layers of both precious metals are permanently fused together through fire welding and then forged and patterned.

This process creates the structures characteristic of Mokume Gane, whose patterns are reminiscent of natural wood grain. The pattern is inherent in the layered metal composite and is not an applied coating.

Since the grain develops uniquely during the handcrafted production process, each Kokoro clasp has its own distinct pattern.

Asymmetrical heart shape with a striking color effect

“Kokoro” means “heart” in Japanese. The design deliberately avoids a strictly symmetrical outline. Instead, gently curved, varying radii create a lively form.

The combination of palladium and silver underscores this character with a subtle color palette. Without additional gold tones or diamonds, the two-tone Mokume-gane grain takes center stage.

Interlocking mechanism for pearl and gemstone necklaces

The back of the clasp is made of 500 palladium. Two clasp mechanisms, invisible from the front, are integrated on the sides; the matching counterparts of a chain are inserted into these and locked in place.

The ball-head mechanism allows Kokoro to be combined with appropriately designed pearl and gemstone necklaces. With compatible systems, the jewelry element can be swapped between different necklaces.

Dimensions and Surface Finish

The Kokoro interchangeable clasp measures approximately 15 × 15 mm. The surface is available in either a glass-matte finish or a brushed matte finish. Both finishes highlight the contrasting lines of palladium and silver.

A pearl or gemstone necklace is not included in this offer.

Custom-crafted in our goldsmith’s workshop

The Kokoro Mokume Gane interchangeable clasp is crafted in our goldsmith’s workshop in Beilstein. The combination of Japanese forging techniques, an asymmetrical heart shape, and a functional interchangeable mechanism results in a jewelry clasp with a distinctive character.
