Mokume Gane "Kokoro" Pendant – A Heart Made of Three Precious Metals

“Kokoro” means “heart” in Japanese. This Mokume Gane pendant takes up this shape, though not as a strictly symmetrical heart. Its slightly asymmetrical sides give it a unique character. At its center is the vibrant pattern created from yellow gold, palladium, and silver.

Master goldsmith Markus Wiesner crafts the Mokume Gane element in our goldsmith’s workshop in Beilstein. The three precious metals are fused together through fire welding and then meticulously finished by hand.

Burl Wood Pattern in Gold, Palladium, and Silver

For the Kokoro pendant, 750 yellow gold, 500 palladium, and 925 silver are forged into a solid metal composite. Through forging and precise shaping of the layers, a pattern emerges whose lines are reminiscent of the grain of burl wood.

The warm yellow gold areas alternate with gray palladium and light silver. The pattern is not a decoration applied afterward, but arises directly from the layered material.

As a result, each pendant has its own unique pattern. Even with the same shape and metal combination, no two pieces are exactly alike.

Asymmetrical heart shape with a matte finish

The Kokoro Mokume Gane pendant measures 15 mm in height and 15 mm in width. The slightly asymmetrical heart shape features a raised surface on which the various metal colors and pattern lines unfold.

The matte finish reduces strong reflections and allows the fine structures of the forged material to stand out.

Rhodium-plated silver mounting

The Mokume Gane element is mounted on a 925 silver base that gives it its shape. This base supports the forged heart and is coated with an electroplated layer of rhodium, which protects the silver from tarnishing.

The pendant is offered with a round omega necklace made of 925 silver featuring a screw-on bail. The necklace length can be selected from the available options.
