Kora Mokume Gane Ring – Geometric Shape with a Vibrant Pattern

The Kora jewelry ring features a simple silver band paired with a slightly domed, shield-shaped Mokume Gane element. The geometric shape provides a cohesive surface that beautifully showcases the unique patterns created by the various precious metals.

The ring is part of the Mokume Silver collection designed by Michael Wiesner. The Mokume Gane top section is crafted by master goldsmith Markus Wiesner in our workshop in Beilstein.

Yellow gold, palladium, and silver in a burl wood pattern

For the ring’s upper section, we combine 750 yellow gold, 500 palladium, and 925 silver into a solid metal composite. The subsequent forging, rolling, and shaping of the layers create lines and surfaces reminiscent of the natural grain of burl wood.

The warm color of the yellow gold stands out against the gray palladium and light silver. The pattern is unique to each ring and therefore cannot be exactly replicated.

A domed top section set on a slender silver band

The shield-shaped top measures 19 × 13 mm. Its slight curvature lends the patterned surface a sense of depth. The ring’s height above the finger is approximately 5 mm.

The ring band is made of 925 silver and has a material thickness of 1.35 mm at the bottom and on the sides. After the matte finish is applied, the silver is electroplated with rhodium to protect it from tarnishing.

The rhodium plating may wear off with wear and can be renewed at our goldsmith’s workshop if necessary.
