Zebrano deliberately plays with a contrast: a vibrantly patterned Mokume-Gane section meets a calm, simple surface of warm yellow gold. As a result, the ring does not appear uniformly dynamic all around. The pattern and the clear surface coexist side by side, giving each other space.
In the Mokume-Gane section, cooler palladium lines run through the warm yellow gold. Added to this are the star-like structures characteristic of Zebrano. Depending on the viewing angle and the incidence of light, sometimes the golden surfaces stand out more, and at other times the gray lines and star shapes take center stage.
The result is Mokume Gane rings that clearly showcase their artisanal uniqueness while maintaining a calm contrast thanks to the simple yellow gold side panel. It is precisely this balance that makes Zebrano extraordinary wedding rings with a very distinctive character.
Two Precious Metals—Warm Yellow Gold and Cool Palladium
For Zebrano, we use 750 yellow gold and 500 palladium. The yellow gold provides the warm base color and also forms the simple side band of the ring. In the Mokume Gane section, the cooler palladium stands out with its gray lines and textures.
We produce the Mokume-Gane layered material ourselves in our goldsmith’s workshop. The prepared precious metal layers of yellow gold and palladium are permanently fused together and then forged and further refined. It is only during this process that the visible Zebrano grain pattern, with its star-like structures, develops.
The different colors are not applied afterward. They arise directly from the two precious metals used. Nor is the pattern a superimposed decoration: its design emerges from the solid layered material and therefore turns out slightly different with every new pair of rings produced.
Seamlessly forged
We also craft Zebrano seamlessly from solid Mokume-Gane layered material. There is no solder joint that would visibly interrupt the pattern at any point.
As a result, the pattern that emerges from the material can continue around the ring without any distracting seam. This manufacturing method not only lends the ring a special quality in terms of craftsmanship; the closed, endless ring shape and the material crafted without a solder joint also beautifully reflect the significance of a wedding ring.
Diamonds as a Deliberate Accent
Zebrano’s star-shaped pattern offers interesting possibilities for small diamonds. Individual stones can be positioned to complement existing structures in the Mokume-Gane pattern.
Another option is to place a diamond at the transition between the vibrantly patterned area and the plain yellow gold section. This creates a bright accent exactly where the ring’s two distinct design elements meet.

Zebrano differs significantly from Mokume-Gane designs, in which the grain defines the entire visible surface of the ring. Here, the pattern is given a deliberate counterpoint: the simple yellow gold side section brings calm to the design and allows the patterned area to stand out all the more clearly.
This makes Zebrano particularly appealing to couples who find a ring with a completely wild grain pattern too lively, yet still do not want to forego the distinctive character of hand-forged Mokume Gane rings.
Zebrano also maintains a clear color scheme. Warm yellow gold defines the overall impression, while palladium introduces cooler lines and contrasts. Together with the star-like structures, the result is a ring that offers much to discover up close while still retaining a distinctly golden radiance.

Handcrafted in our goldsmith’s workshop
At Zebrano, the craftsmanship begins with the creation of the Mokume Gane layered material. Master goldsmith Markus Wiesner permanently fuses the prepared layers of 750 yellow gold and 500 palladium together in our own workshop.
The resulting solid composite material is then forged and carefully shaped. In this process, the palladium lines and star-like structures emerge from the various precious metal layers.
When creating a new piece, we can deliberately recreate Zebrano’s characteristic structure and pattern. However, the exact distribution of the lines and structures cannot be reproduced identically on an industrial scale. That is precisely what makes it so appealing: each pair of Zebrano rings develops its own unique pattern during the creation process.
