Four Precious Metals for a Delicate, Vibrant Play of Colors

For Abarco , we use 750 yellow gold, 585 rose gold, 500 palladium, and 925 silver. The different layers of precious metals are built up in our own goldsmith’s workshop and permanently fused together to form the Mokume-Gane layered material.

The solid composite material is then forged, rolled, and carefully shaped. As this happens, the individual layers open up, and the characteristic Abarco grain emerges step by step.

The color effect is therefore neither applied nor added later. Warm gold and red tones, as well as light gray and silver lines, arise directly from the precious metals themselves.

It is precisely the combination of four different alloys that gives Abarco its depth. Some areas appear very delicate and serene, while others display more pronounced changes in direction or broader swaths of color. These subtle differences arise during the artisanal crafting process and make each pair of rings one-of-a-kind.

Seamlessly forged

Abarco is seamlessly forged from solid Mokume-Gane layered material. There is no visible solder joint where the grain ends or begins anew.

This allows the pattern to unfold around the entire ring without any abrupt interruptions. This creates a particularly cohesive appearance, especially with the delicately flowing wood grain.

As you turn the ring on your finger, different areas of the four-color pattern are revealed. The rings therefore have no fixed front side but display their individual grain all around.

Diamonds as a Deliberate Accent

At Abarco, diamonds can be set in such a way that they complement the Mokume-Gane grain rather than covering it up.

For example, delicate lines of diamonds can be incorporated to follow the existing pattern. Individual, strategically placed diamond accents can also be integrated into the design.

This creates particularly charming highlights, especially where rose gold, yellow gold, and the lighter palladium and silver lines meet. At the same time, Abarco works very well without any gemstone setting at all—in which case, the four-color precious metal pattern itself remains the focal point.

Custom-made for you

The Abarco ring pair shown here is a previously crafted version and serves as an example of this model’s character. Your own pair will be newly crafted for you and will feature its own unique grain pattern.

The ring width can be selected from 4 to 13 mm. Intermediate widths can also be custom-made. The design shown has a profile height of approximately 2 mm.

The inside is slightly curved and polished, creating a comfortable fit. In the version shown, the visible surface of the Abarco is given a fine, satin-matte finish through sandblasting.

Coating thicknesses and diamond settings can also be tailored to the desired design within the limits of technical feasibility. This allows the character of Abarco to be customized without losing its signature four-color concept.

Handcrafted in our goldsmith’s workshop

For us, the creation of Abarco begins with the layering of the Mokume Gane material. Master goldsmith Markus Wiesner arranges the layers of 750 yellow gold, 585 rose gold, 500 palladium, and 925 silver and permanently fuses them together in our own goldsmith’s workshop.

Through forging, rolling, and other precise techniques, the visible grain gradually emerges from this solid composite material.

How wide individual lines become, where red or yellow gold stands out more prominently, and where the lighter metals take precedence depends directly on this artisanal craftsmanship. The pattern is not transferred to a finished ring and cannot be replicated exactly like an industrial design.

Thus, the Abarco model remains clearly recognizable, while each newly crafted pair of rings takes on its own unique lines and play of colors.
