Mokume Gane Funa Adjustable Clasp – Three-Tone Grain in a Sleek Design

The Mokume Gane Funa Interchangeable Clasp combines the warm tones of yellow gold with the cooler shades of palladium and silver. Its elongated, gently curved shape beautifully highlights the individually forged metal lines.

As the visible clasp of a pearl or gemstone necklace, Funa also serves as a pendant. Its clean design deliberately lets the vibrant grain pattern created by the three precious metals take center stage.

Mokume Gane in Gold, Palladium, and Silver

Master goldsmith Markus Wiesner crafts the patterned upper section from 750 yellow gold, 500 palladium, and 925 silver. The precious metals are built up in layers, fused together through fire welding, and then forged and patterned.

The resulting patterns are characteristic of the Japanese Mokume Gane technique. Gold-colored lines run through light silver areas and gray palladium sections. The pattern forms directly within the material and is not an applied coating.

Since the grain pattern develops uniquely during the handcrafted process, each Funa clasp has its own distinct design.

A jewelry clasp without diamond setting

In this tri-color design, the interplay of the precious metals takes center stage. No additional diamonds are used. The warm gold lines provide a colorful accent within the forged surface.

Thanks to its slender shape, Funa is particularly well-suited for necklaces where the clasp is intentionally meant to be visible.

Interchangeable mechanism for various necklaces

The integrated ball-head mechanism allows it to be attached to appropriately equipped pearl and gemstone necklaces. With matching counterparts, the clasp can be swapped between compatible necklaces.
