Mokume Gane Kora Interchangeable Clasp – Jewelry Clasp for Pearl Necklaces

The Mokume Gane Kora Interchangeable Clasp combines a clean, shield-shaped design with the vibrant grain of two precious metals. Crafted from palladium and silver, this jewelry element serves as the visible centerpiece of a pearl or gemstone necklace while also functioning as the clasp.

Kora is part of the Mokume Silver collection designed by Michael Wiesner. Its distinctive shape intentionally leaves room for the hand-forged metal pattern to shine.

Two-tone Mokume Gane made of palladium and silver

For the front, master goldsmith Markus Wiesner fuses several layers of 500 palladium and 925 silver through fire welding to create a solid metal composite. The subsequent forging, patterning, and rolling produce the distinctive pattern reminiscent of wood grain.

The contrast between light silver areas and darker palladium lines gives Kora a subtle color effect. Since the pattern varies with each forging process, every clasp is a unique piece of jewelry.

The back of the clasp is made of 500 palladium. The surface can be finished with a glass-like matte finish or a brushed matte finish.

Clasp and pendant in one piece of jewelry

Ball-head clasp mechanisms are integrated into the sides of the jewelry element. With the matching counterparts on a pearl or gemstone necklace, Kora can be used as a clasp and, if necessary, exchanged for another clasp element.

This design allows different necklaces to be combined with the same Mokume Gane jewelry element. A compatible clasp system is required.

Handcrafted in our goldsmith’s workshop

The Kora interchangeable clasp is crafted in our workshop in Beilstein. The hand-crafted grain pattern makes each piece unique.
